Elbow Treatment - Birmingham, West Midlands

Tennis elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis)

This commonly affects recreational tennis players and manual workers. It is where pain is felt on the outside aspect of the elbow, and can radiate down the forearm. The pain is caused by an inflammation of the tendon that lifts the wrist up, the inflammation occurs due to over-use and repetition.

At City Physio Clinics one of our physiotherapists will assess your elbow to confirm a diagnosis. A specific treatment programme will then be set, this may include, friction massage, taping or advice on splints to relieve the pressure from the tendon, electrotherapy such as ultrasound, home exercises to stretch the soft tissue.

Golfers elbow (Medial Epicondylitis)

This is very similar to Tennis elbow, as it is an over-use injury commonly caused by sporting activities or work-related often seen by doctors. Pain is felt on the inside of the elbow and can radiate down into the forearm. The inside of the elbow can be very tender and an increase in pain is normally felt by bending the wrist, grasping and turning the palm to face downwards.
